Our Naija Brothers in "The Abroad "

A Naija brother in "the abroad" would walk up to me say he doesn't like dating Nigerian girls. In my mind, I would be like "errmm, sorry I'm not Portuguese, Russian or even Chinese 🙄" ,  he would go on to say "I don't know why I just like you, in fact you are the first Nigerian girl I've asked out since I left naija " . You won't believe the number of guys that have said this to me.
I'm beginning to wonder if there is a problem with being a Nigerian girl outside Nigeria. Is there something in the air which we unconsciously take in that probably changes us that Nigerian guys living outside Nigeria don't inhale? Abi is it just because of  "green card" ?

I honestly don't know why our men would come to the conclusion that Nigerian  women are totally unworthy of their love when they are not longer in their home country. The only reason they might want to even talk to you won't be far from eating Nigerian food, sex or whenever they feel they need a "sister " to confide in. This makes finding a husband as a Nigerian lady living abroad, a very difficult task because the so called "reasonable" ones whom are very few are already dating foreigners and the other guys left, in most cases don't have sense. The foreign guys sometimes aren't interested in dating black ladies and some black ladies themselves don't find the foreign guys attractive, so this leaves our chances of finding a partner really slim.

Again, we would hear stories of guys that live abroad telling their people to help them look for a wife at home. OK... I am not understanding. Why do they want Nigerian wives when "they "don't date Nigerian ladies, is it that they are confused or what?  You didn't like her outside Nigeria because you feel she knows what you know, you feel she is exposed and so this might threaten your masculinity, you are afraid that for the fact she could find her way abroad means she is capable of anything including being better financially stable than you probably are or can ever be, so you begin to make a mess of her image abroad. You make her feel like she made a mistake trying to pursue her dreams abroad, but you think you can easily manipulate the one back home because you live outside Nigeria so that automatically makes you wiser or better... Hmm!

Anyway, I just want you to know that we see you. We see how you become pratical house boys for the foreigners while you form big boy for us. We see how you laugh at their jokes even though you know they said nothing funny. We see everything but we still pray for you that one day you would realize that you are replaying colonization only willingly this time, we also pray that you know that the best way to make people accept you is if you accept yourself first and please don't tell me that one can't help with whom he falls in love with because you can, else you could as well date a mentally deranged woman too. And above all, we pray that you may one day receive sense. Amen!
