The Real Position of Women
Often times, this has been a regular debate amongst people. Where should a woman be placed in the society. Some people say she should be below the man since he is her superior and of course the "weaker vessel ". This idea is particular to the "old schools " as the case may be, those that are traditional in thinking. Others think women should be placed on the same level with the man, hence the feminist movement. They think women should enjoy the same privileges as men do so there should not be any discrimination on the grounds of sex. This idea is particular to people who claim to be " modern ", they believe time changes everything and it's best if we change with time.
Come to think of it. The world has been in a state of unrest because women do not really understand where they are placed, but to me, I think a woman is as flexible as anything flexible. She is places herself anywhere she fits into in order to survive.
Look at this scenario, when a woman is in the arms of a loving man, she naturally reclines to the background, she is comfortable here because she feels secure and whatever decision the man makes is ok. There is no need to prove anything to anyone but when she is in an abusive relationship, she fights to be heard, to be seen as human whose opinion counts and to be generally understood. When she is in a place where there is no man in the picture, she gets to choose what position to be in, either to use her feminity to get favor or to fight like or even better than a man to get through, but in all positions, she gets to use her instincts and brain to dictate which position she is in and to act accordingly.
A friend once told me that he doesn't want his woman to be above him or too low such that her voice won't be heard, he wants her to find herself somewhere in the middle but I think the situation she finds herself would help her define her position.

I belong to the school of thought that postulate equality between man and woman. Come to think of it some women are bread winners of many homes. Where are their husbands? Why didn't the position of headship put food on the family table? Like the writer rightfully said, women are wired to be flexible by default. May God bless our mothers.
